From an agent who’s been in the industry for more than 25 years, mastering lead conversion is the key to setting ourselves apart from the competition and achieving remarkable success.

How can I succeed as a new real estate agent? There are plenty of things you should be doing as a new agent, like choosing a brokerage, creating a website, and setting up your database. However, those are just the basics—I want to share what will help you go above and beyond. Here are four things you should do to succeed as a new agent:

1. Set a routine. I firmly believe this is the start of success. You don’t have to plan out every second, but you should have a map of your day and what you’re going to do when. That way, all of the important things get done, and you give each task the appropriate amount of time. Don’t be hard on yourself if you mess something up. Give yourself time to work out all the kinks and get used to having a schedule.

2. Master your market. Here are Brownell Team Realtors, one of the things that we demand is that our people study basic economics and then they read some of our past reports where we’ve analyzed the market month over month. We want them to have a good understanding of what’s going on so that they can have some competent and relevant conversations with the people they’ll talk to today. We don’t recommend getting information from the local media because they’re printing stuff just to get people to buy papers and not necessarily to inform them about what’s really going on in the real estate market.

“Don’t be hard on yourself if you mess something up.”

3. Take care of yourself. A healthy you is important to run a healthy business. It always starts on the inside and works its way out. If you’re not getting the necessary rest, not eating well, eating a bunch of junk food, or running from appointment to appointment while grabbing fast food on the way, you’re bound to break down. Remember that adequate rest, relaxation, sleep, and good nutrition with a little bit of exercise are also essential to grow your business.

4. Consider getting a mentor. Real estate today is complex. It’s not like how it used to be ten or 30 years ago, and there are a lot of coach or mentor opportunities out there that can help you reach your goals. If you’re not sure which direction to go, reach out to me. I can give you my insights on some of the things that I think are important, the coaches that I’ve chosen, and my reasons for choosing them.

We have learned the hard way that these four things are essential to finding success. If we can help in any way, please let us know. Call or email anytime; we would love to hear from you.
